The temporomandibular joint is a joint that acts like a sliding hinge. It connects the skull and jawbone. Everyone has one joint at each side of the jaw. Temporomandibular joint disorder is a condition that causes pain in the jaw joint along with pain in the jaw muscles which control jaw movement. This condition is known to affect ligaments of the jaw as well. Modern science explains its causes like cartilage damage due to arthritis, disk rhodes or movement out of its alignment and damage by a blow to the joint. But Ayurveda explains it as a result of vata dosha aggravation simply and suggests that vata anulomana chikitsa is to be done. Products Description

1. Boswellia-Curcumin

Boswellia-Curcumin is a patent formulation by Planet Ayurveda which has shallaki (Boswellia serrata) and haridra (Curcuma longa) as its ingredients. The formulation works really well in pacification of vata dosha and also has its impact on vedana related to it. The capsules are prepared with standardised extract of the herbs and both of the herbs support the human skeleton really well. These Two are also known to give supportive effects in many conditions in which joints are mainly affected. The supplement is best for expelling out the endotoxins present inside the body.

2. Joint Aid Plus

Joint Aid Plus is a very brilliant formulation by Planet ayurveda which has ingredients like guggul, shallaki that are best known for subsiding pain by pacification of vata dosha. The pain which may be present is of pricking nature and is generally during movement. This pricking pain is always associated with aggravated vata dosha in the body. As the formulation has ashwagandha, it helps in strengthening the ligaments and muscles as well. 3. Ashwagandhaghan Vati

4. Vrihat Vatchintamani Ras

Vrihat Vatchintamani Ras is a classical preparation which is being prepared using Swarna Bhasma (calx of gold), Rajata Bhasma (calx of silver), Abhrak Bhasma (calx of mica), Loha Bhasma (calx of iron), Pravala Bhasma (calx of coral), Mukta Bhasma (calx of pearl) and Suta Bhasma (calx of a compound of purified mercury and sulphur). All of these ingredients help in improving the symptoms which are present in temporomandibular joint disorders. Vrihat Vatchintamani ras, as it s name suggests helps in the effective pacification of vata dosha and also helps in improving the sensory and motor functioning also. As it is a mineral preparation this has a greater effect even in low doses.

5. Maha Rasnadi Kwath

Maha Rasnadi Kwath is a classical mentioned preparation which is known to help in all types of vata rogas. It is a known and trustful preparation in Ayurveda. The formulation is known to give very impressive results in pacification of vata dosha thus resulting in subsiding the symptoms. The TMJ disorder is typically having pain as a symptom and this pain is sometimes unbearable. 6. Mahatriphala Ghrit

The mahatriphala ghrit has various ingredients like bhringraj, vasa, shatavari, amalaki, giloy and many others. 7. Nirgundi Oil

It is mentioned in the ayurveda that nirgundi is sarva roga nivarini and its a remedy or recipe for various types of diseases. 8. Orthovita Oil

Orthovita Oil is patent formulated by Planet Ayurveda which is prepared using ingredients like tail tarpon, shul gajendra, gandhapura, turpentine, saindhavadi taila, prasarini oil and few others. The application of ortho vita oil is also a helpful agent which helps in anulomana of vata dosha. The orthovita oil helps in supporting normal movement of joints and also maintains the strength of joints. Dosage

Boswellia-Curcumin - 2 capsules twice daily with warm water.
Joint Aid Plus - 2 capsules twice daily with warm water.
Ashwagandhaghan Vati - 2 tablets twice daily with warm water.
Vrihat Vatchintamani Ras - 1 tablet once daily. Chew the tablet with warm ghee after meals.
Maha Rasnadi Kwath - 2 tsp. twice daily with an equal amount of water.
Mahatriphala Ghrit - 1 tsp. twice daily with warm water after meals.
Nirgundi Oil + Orthovita Oil - Mix together and massage at TM Joint.
