Description

Backache in women has several potential causes, some of which are specific to females. A research shows prevalence of lower back pain to be 53.3% in women as compared to that of 30.6% in men.

Composition

Sepia 20x, Aesculus hippocastanum 3x, Cimicifuga racemosa 3x.

Indications

Helps relieve backache associated with menstrual irregularities, leucorrhoea & other pelvic organ disorders in women besides pain of Lumbar spondylosis & Slip disc.

Dosage

2 tablets thrice a day for adult. 1 tablet thrice a day for Pre-Adults. Or as prescribed by the physician.

The conditions that can cause back pain in females include

  • Pelvic Inflammatory Disease: It is one of the most frequent infections in the reproductive age group and is a major risk factor causing low backache in females. PID is defined as the inflammation of the upper genital tract including the uterus, ovaries and the pelvic peritoneum most commonly caused by gonorrhoea or chlamydia. Signs and symptoms are mostly mild and difficult to recognize, there may be mild to severe pain in pelvis and lower abdomen, discharge per vagina, abnormal uterine bleeding, painful coitus, fever and painful micturition.
  • Premenstrual syndrome: It presents with a wide range of symptoms including mood swings, tenderness of breasts, fatigue, irritability, cravings for food, and depression. Physical symptoms are joint or muscle pain, backache, headache, abdominal bloating, acne, constipation or diarrhoea, etc. these symptoms disappear within four days after the start of menstruation.
  • Endometriosis: It is characterized by the presence and growth of functioning;endometrial tissue in places other than the uterus that often results in severe pain and infertility. Symptoms include dysmenorrhea, pain or cramps before and during menstruation, profuse menstrual flow or bleeding between periods, low back pain during menses, etc.
  • Dysmenorrhoea: It is defined as difficult menstrual flow or painful menstruation. It can be primary, i.e., with no underlying pathology, and secondary, i.e., resulting from an identifiable pelvic pathology like endometriosis, PID, Fibroids, Ectopic pregnancy, miscarriage, infection, polyps, or tumours in pelvic cavity. It presents with cramps in lower abdomen, low back pain which may radiate down the legs, with associated symptoms like nausea, vomiting, diarrhoea, headache, fatigue, etc.
  • Pregnancy: Backache is common between 5th ; 7th month of pregnancy and it occurs due to a shift in centre of gravity, weight gain, and relaxation of ligaments in preparation for birth. Pain can be felt around sacrum, or in dorsal spine or around the waist and it may radiate to the legs.
  • Musculoskeletal Disorders: Certain disorders of the joints and muscles are more common in females and can present with backache, these are - Osteoarthritis, Osteoporosis, Spondylolisthesis, Piriformis syndrome, Sacroiliitis, etc.

Action Of Ingredients

1. Sepia: It helps relieve backache associated with Menstrual irregularities, Leucorrhoea and other Pelvic organ disorders in women besides pain of Lumbar Spondylosis and Slip disc.

Symptoms settle in back, in ileocecal region, ovaries. Pains extend down to back, chills easily. In Rheumatism, for the chronic cases.

2. Aesculus Hippocastanum: The action of this remedy is most marked on the lower bowels, producing engorged hemorrhoidal veins with the characteristic backache and absence of constipation.

This remedy has great affinity for the pelvis, hips, the sacro-iliac joint and sacrum problems. Sacro-iliac problems since an injury or a fall. Indicated for degenerative hip disease, Arthritis of the hip where there is aching pains in hips and pelvis. Sore muscles, worse in mornings on waking and on motion.

Joints are weak. The back aches and gives out. Backache, lumbo-sacral region aches, where walking greatly aggravates all symptoms.

3. Cimicifuga Racemosa: Indicated for lumbago and Muscle pain. Useful in rheumatic, nervous subjects with ovarian irritation, uterine cramps and heavy limbs. Pains are violent, aching, shooting, wander here and there. Compressive pains. Pains like electric shocks, with cries, faints etc.
